The establishment of the Bangladeshi Global Diaspora Council, set for January 2023, represents an innovative approach to enhance the connection between Bangladesh and its widespread expatriate community. This initiative grew from comprehensive discussions among members of the current Diaspora Advisory Board, various stakeholders, and the Economic Growth Council. There was a consensus on the need to broaden engagement with the diaspora, extending the reach to include Bangladeshis residing in new and burgeoning regions around the globe.

The Council is poised to serve as an advisory and consultative entity, dedicated to forging new avenues for the Bangladeshi diaspora to engage more effectively with their homeland. Its aim is to facilitate and streamline communication, involvement, and resource mobilization among the global Bangladeshi community, reinforcing their ties to Bangladesh and enabling them to contribute meaningfully to its development.
